How to make the Dumbledore Wand?

The Elder Wand, Deathstick, Wand of Destiny ….or Wand of Destiny – one thing is certain: Dumbledore wand is amazing! It’s something we all want to own, and who wouldn’t? Although I do actually have the official Noble Collection penndel mental health replica I wanted something more sturdy to take to conventions and other events so I decided to make it my own!

Dumbledore Wand

This Instructable will show you how to make a replica of Dumbledore wand with a minimum budget in just a few hours.

This Instructable doesn’t require much. I used things I had around my house and in my craft cabinet. You can substitute any of these items for galanz refrigerator whatever you have on hand (for instance, knitting needles and chopsticks could make a good base for the dumbledore wand).

  • Tools
  • Paintbrush
  • craft knife

Sponge – To add finer details to the paint

  • Materials
  • Wooden dowel (1/4 inch thick, minimum 15″/38cm in length)
  • Air-drying modeling clay
  • Acrylic paints
  • White
  • Brown
  • black (or dark brown)

PVA glue is used to seal the paint and prevent it from chipping as easily.

  • Fine point marker pen
  • Cocktail stick, or another pointy instrument – to make the holes in the clay

Step 1: Shape the Dowel

This step is optional but it will make your dumbledore wand much more precise. Use your craft knife to shave the final 4 inches (10 cm) of the wand. This will make it thinner towards the end. (Again, you should always have an adult with you during this step!

This is the best way to go about it. Point health hutt the dowel away and then push the blade down along the dowel until you have a desired shape.

NOTE: You can skip this step if you use knitting needles or chopsticks to make the dumbledore wand, since most knitting needles have sharper tips.

To give the dowel a natural, carved appearance, I removed the top layer of wood from the remaining length of the dumbledore wand(leaving the handle).

Step 2:  Add the “Knots”.

This part was difficult for me to master. I tried several different techniques before finally settling on the one that I found most efficient and accurate. This step can be divided into two parts: The “pommel” part and the “knots”.

Pommel dumbledore wand

You can start by cutting out a circle of card about 2.1 cm in size. Then glue it to your dumbledore wand. This will help to keep the pommel at the right size.

Next, use small amounts of clay to create the shape of your pommel. The clay can be smoothed with water.
